I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist who has been in practice for over 30 years. My work, as a psychotherapist, is influenced by psychodynamic, interpersonal and attachment theories. I believe that at the core of a healthy, happy and satisfying life is the capacity to form intimate attachments and maintain ongoing satisfying relationships. The goal within a healthy relationship is to not function at the expense of the self, and to have a self that does not function at the cost to the other.

Therapy is a place where individuals can tell the meaningful stories of their lives and explore their thoughts and feelings, habitual patterns, relational styles and past issues. Doing this successfully requires a setting where the person feels safe and comfortable enough to explore their past and present relationships while telling the narrative of their lives. Within the holding environment created by the therapeutic relationship, a person will be able to discover the cut-off parts of him or herself, thus allowing change and the emergence of one’s true self.  Within the therapeutic relationship, it is crucial for the person to feel safe enough to talk about any issue or feelings that are important to them and impacting their life. Psychotherapy conducted from this perspective allows for the natural evolution of change, growth, and the discovery of one’s true self.

The focus of my practice is individual, group and couples therapy I also provide professional supervision and consultation. My areas of specialty are relationship issues, grief work, addiction and recovery issues, anxiety, depression and personality issues.

“Change occurs when one becomes what he is,

not when he tries to become what he is not.”
